Our Model

The key to Imani Schools’ success lies in our scalable business model, which reduces costs significantly, extending access to high-quality education for more children.

From day one, Imani Schools was founded on the premise of a massive market opportunity. We knew that achieving success would require an unprecedented scale in Uganda’s education sector. Therefore, we invested heavily in research, development, technology, and curriculum from the start. This rigorous development process is essential to achieving the highest levels of academic performance and operational effectiveness, ensuring consistent education quality across all our locations.

Imani drives enormous efficiencies through the use of technology and data. These innovations reduce overhead costs and enhance educational quality. For instance, at each school, only one employee, the Academy Manager, handles management. Non-instructional activities like billing, payments, expense management, payroll processing, and prospective admissions are automated and centralized through a custom backend ERP system.

This systemization allows the Academy Manager to concentrate on critical local tasks: overseeing classroom instruction and building and managing relationships with parents and the community. By leveraging technology and data, Imani Academies ensures that all students receive a high-quality education while maintaining operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The Teacher Resource Center (TRC)

The TRC is the online hub for the Imani learning program. It offers a comprehensive set of high-quality lesson plans for every subject and grade level, authored by Imani’s top teachers. This centralized resource simplifies lesson planning, establishes common standards across all Imani Schools, and ensures consistent, excellent education.

It also fosters a collaborative community where teachers can build on existing materials, upload new resources, and share their expertise, continuously enhancing the quality of education we provide.

Professional development:

Our training programs for teachers and school administrators are specifically designed to align with the Imani Schools’ methodology and address the unique needs of our educators. Teachers receive retraining in new classroom management and teaching techniques, supported around the clock by the school administrators. Additionally, they benefit from ongoing training and continuous support both in and out of the classroom, ensuring they are equipped to provide the highest quality education.

Assessments:

At Imani Schools, we administer standardized tests to students thrice each term to measure performance and evaluate the impact of our innovations on student learning and achievement. We also design and conduct pilot programs to test pedagogic innovations before large-scale implementation. This process includes class observations and control group tests to accurately measure the impact of these innovations on student outcomes.

Infrastructure:

The infrastructure of all our schools is of optimum quality, built from scratch with suitable materials for sustainable architecture and childcare. Our facilities are designed to support the effective implementation of our educational methodology, including Group Learning Classrooms, Libraries, Multimedia Classrooms, Dining Areas, Playgrounds, and Early Childhood Areas. Furthermore, our schools are fitted with ramps to guarantee accessibility for both children and staff with disabilities, fostering an environment of inclusivity in learning.
