The Imani Virtual
Learning Project
Imagine you are a part of the reason deserving children across slums in Kampala can access the education they desperately need for a better future through technology
How it works
The Imani virtual learning project involves self-paced and collaborative learning modules. Students are provided with digital tablets, internet, active numbers and noise cancelation headphones set up to support learning. Students are closely monitored and graded to evaluate learning outcomes.
The virtual learning studio
After surveying students from over 10 communities we discovered 98% of students surveyed were eager to return to school, and the top reasons were missed interactions with peers and teachers. We also realized that without learning engagement, 92% of these children faced the risk of abuse and some of them wouldn’t return to school. Setting up the virtual learning studio and platform was the most forward-thinking solution to provide. It was designed to mimic classroom interactions found in brick and mortar school settings. This is the first of its kind in the country and we invite you to join us in supporting, sustaining and scaling this program.
Our goal
We have only just begun; our goal is to ensure that we leave no child behind regardless of their location or socio-economic background. We want more children to have access to these educational tools needed to excel in the 21st century. We have been able to help just a handful of the children who need this, our goal is to help more across these and more communities.
