Emergency COVID-19 Appeal

We’re working hard to support our children and families in Nansana.

Education is life changing. Now more than ever.

The global COVID-19 crisis continues to rapidly evolve into unknown territories and many of the vulnerable communities in urban informal settlements are disproportionately impacted. Urban informal settlements are characterized by a dense population and acute poverty, which makes social distancing and hygiene standards difficult to implement. Without disposable cash to stockpile food and basic necessities, these vulnerable communities cannot afford to stop working – even though lockdowns may make this a reality. At the same time access to basic services like healthcare, water, sanitation and education is limited and stretched. The implications of an outbreak in these communities can be devastating with loss of jobs and income, malnutrition and deteriorating health, and will moreover leave entire populations vulnerable by allowing COVID-19 to spread more easily.

Our Imani team has expanded its work to focus on preventing the spread of coronavirus. Right now we are providing hygiene education, access to water stations and soap, and delivering home learning packs to pupils in our community.

With your help, we can protect the most vulnerable.

So far we have:

Established 12+ water stations providing communities and Markets with access to soap and clean water.

Delivered 350 Home Learning Packs to students within our communities, with a goal of 1,000 in the coming weeks.

Continued to provide essential education on the importance of hand washing and basic sanitation.

Together we can stop the spread.
